What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a type of training that assists the brain in learning more efficient ways of functioning. It works with your brain waves to increase or decrease arousal. Think of your brain as a car engine - it needs to run not too fast and not too slow. Neurofeedback helps calm the over-aroused brain that is running too fast creating anxiety, insomnia, impulsivity, agitation, intrusive thoughts, tension, physical health issues etc. It also helps activate the under-aroused brain that is running too slow and manifests as depression, procrastination, inattention, spaciness, forgetfulness, chronic tiredness, lack of motivation, etc. Based on your brain’s arousal state, a customized training plan using the EEGer neurofeedback equipment will be created and adjusted as you train your brain.
How Neurofeedback Works:
It's like a brain gym.
-
Sensors are placed on the scalp to read brainwave activity
-
A game is selected for you to play that gives your brain feedback by rewarding it when it moves towards focus/alertness as well as calmness/relaxation
-
With this exercise, the brain begins to self-correct over time and learn to be at its optimal and best functioning state
-
With consistent repetition, typically between 15-25 training sessions, the brain maintains the new healthier patterns long term
